Project for conservation and restoration of forests of the Zelenogradsky nature reserve

The development of a project for the Zelenogradsky complex reserve was launched in 2022 within the framework of the state contract execution concluded with the Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection of Moscow

The following works were performed in November – December 2022 as part of the 1st stage:

Route reconnaissance survey of the territory of the reserve;

Estimation of the sanitary condition of forest plantations of the reserve by methods of retrospective analysis of highly detailed satellite images and field survey;

Analysis of 2012 forest management materials and information about the habitats and growth of plant and animal species listed in the Red Data Book of Moscow;

Analysis of the territory landscape structure;

The principles and approaches to the development of a program for the restoration of disturbed natural- anthropogenic complexes were agreed;

An explanatory note was drawn up and a set of thematic maps at 1:10 000 scale was prepared.

During stages 2 and 3 in 2023, it is planned to carry out detailed field work and develop a project of measures for the conservation, development and use of the nature reserve territory for a 5-year period.
